Rainy Days and Mondays...
The Carpenters! Today was a rainy Monday. Grew up in the 70's and it seems like we are having a bit of those times again lately! In the Interior Design industry, very clean lines, wood, shag rugs, groovy colors, and mod is everywhere. Check out Dwell magazine for some great ideas!! After performing in the musical "Hair" upon graduating from design school in the early 90's, I started my design career. The musical was about the Vietnam War (Iraq) and we were all hippies (lots of guys with long hair today), we grew our hair long and protested the war. For the months that I toured doing that show, my eyes would well up every night at the end of the show. The song that did it was while we were on our knees all in a line holding our crossed hands tightly singing:
We starve-look...
At one another ....
Short of breath.....
Walking proudly in our winter coats
Wearing smells from laboratories
Facing a dying nation
Of moving paper fantasy
Listening for the new told lies
With supreme visions of lonely tunes
Somewhere.....
Inside something there is a rush ofGreatness
Who knows what stands in front ofOur lives
I fashion my future on films in space
Silence Tells me secretly
Everything....Everything
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sun shine in....
We are facing some similar times but dream big, who knows exactly where you will end up. "Silence tells me secretly, everything..... let the sunshine in!"

Open your mind, forget all the negative media!
Well here is a clear cut example of how time slips away. This past week was one unbelievable flow of events after the next!!! The expression of "not having enough time in the day" is one that I try to steer clear of. We all have time to do the things that we find important. This week has been filled with being on the road and feeling the anticipation of the holidays around the corner. My clients get the urge to make sure that their houses are fit for entertaining so our pace picks up a bit during the holidays! We are also preparing to install a corporate office that we are putting the final touches on for next month. As well, I received a call this week about designing a luxury hotel. It seems that everyone in my industry has bounced back from last weeks turmoil and they are more geared up now for the months ahead and the election. Stay positive. Set your mind free. Many amazing prospects have actually come into my life this week! I just seem to put out a thought vibration and the doors open. Unbelievable when it happens, but then you realize you put it out there to line up that way. Stay open and it will come. Do not expect, just visualize. With expectation comes disappointment. When your mind is open you will receive. To receive you must believe!! Wishing you a great week ahead!! Go for it...step out of your comfort zone and just do it!!

Slow down and appreciate the little things!
Today I was reminded how important it is to remember to take time for those precious moments. Slow down, amist the busy day and reflect upon past memories and new ones that are being created with each new day. In one of my morning Podcasts while driving to work today, the speaker reminded me to not always be rushing to the next task! I have a meeting tomorrow for one of my corporate projects, a 2 story penthouse office with amazing views of the ocean. As I was driving around today collecting important information and samples for my meetings tomorrow, I was daydreaming of my life, my family, my health and what a gorgeous place I am lucky to work in. You can not beat a drive up the oceanside all day long, listening to motivation or just some good tunes! Peace, love and light to all of you. May your days be filled with sunshine and thoughts of what brings you the most joy.

My recommendations at ThisNext
Super cool site with lots of fun stuff!! I will continue to share more of my secret sites with you each week.
Breaking News!!!
The Wall Street Journal Podcast just reported that the licensed Interior Design professional is in high demand. The quest is for the consumer to be able to utilize the designer to watch over the sub-contractors in smaller projects. The Journal cautions that you need to be aware of the Interior Designer's credentials and make sure they are qualified. Check organizations like ASID and NCIDQ.

An entryway I designed for a fabulous estate in Boca Raton on the water. It is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the area just off the ocean. (right)
Goodmorning! So another Saturday of work ahead. I am off to a luxury condo worth over 3 million today that we are furnishing for rent and sale. This is called "turnkey" design. Our client is an investor in the market. In Florida we have seen many changes. An influx of European's making worthwhile of the euro's exchange rate with the dollar. As our dollar weakens, we actually find that the market here in Florida is surviving through foreign investment and the wealthy clients that are drawn to our climate. Season is just around the corner! With the cold weather, comes the desire to escape to FLorida for a bit of rest and relaxation on the beach. We love that here and welcome all visitors. In the winter our weather is simply gorgeous and a pleasure to experience, nice and warm with a lovely breeze. We are preparing for all of the wealthy who flock the island of Palm Beach from November through April. The charity parties are endless and the daytime shopping and lunch a must! Worth avenue will be packed with Gucci, Channel, Hermes, Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo, and Cartier lovers. We have it all. With our shop being just blocks away and on the main street of the island. I get excited just blogging about it! It really puts me in the spirit of it being here already. Visualizing all of the positive energy and success the season will bring has given me such pleasure this morning. So off I go for a day of design at my clients in Bal Harbour ( another luxury shopping mecca) then shopping at my Miami furniture boutiques that carry amazing mid century modern pieces. I love what I do, it is simply a wonderful life! Have a fantastic day and visit my links at the left. Lot's of fun to explore!

With change comes growth!
What a week filled with uncertainty. The state of our economy, who will be our next president and are we heading for a recession? That is certainly enough right there to think about. Then we add our daily lives, our routine, our families and our health on top of it! In times like these I find that it is a spiritual cleansing to clean the clutter of the mind and simplify your life! I have looked into many options that I would not have opened my eyes to perhaps at this present moment. My career is based on making concrete choices and sticking with them. When we question too much we loose the ability to flow freely and just trust our inner voice. I am where I am suppose to be, researching what I am suppose to research at this present moment and the enthusiasm has set me free!! Open your mind to new possibilites and get excited because with change comes growth!
